Biodiversity/Ecological Trainers

Envirico are a fast-growing Irish ecological consultancy who undertake large-scale biodiversity training and ecological projects such as the Nore Vision (www.norevision.ie), off-shore Island nesting bird surveys, and invasive species eradication from an Irish peninsula.

We are currently recruiting experienced and knowledgeable biodiversity trainers/ecologists to help us deliver a number of biodiversity training courses we are set to roll-out at various locations across Ireland. This is an opportunity to be part of a number of exciting, ground-breaking ecological training projects in 2021-2022.

Salary is competitive and will be linked to experience.

We are looking for applicants with a selection of the following training skills and experience:

  • History of Irish biodiversity
  • Good botanical and habitat classification skills
  • River/grassland/linear habitat management
  • Current Irish Citizen Science schemes
  • Well-being through nature
  • Experience producing or helping communities/state agencies produce Biodiversity Action Plans
  • Water Conservation
  • Water Quality, Freshwater & Riparian Habitats
  • Pollinator corridors & the All Ireland Pollinator Plan
  • Habitat restoration
  • Wildflower management

Courses will combine online & place-based learning, and you will be required to aid in producing e-learning content e.g. video, podcast, virtual reality, quizzes.

There will be some evening and weekend work required as part of this role to accommodate participants.

Position Requirements:

Full driver’s licence

Bachelors degree or higher in a biodiversity or training/teaching related discipline. In the case of highly experienced biodiversity trainers, experience may be considered equivalent to a degree at our discretion.

  • Personable and able to engage and interest people
  • Experience delivering and creating biodiversity related training is required.
  • A Train the Trainer/other training related qualification is an advantage
  • Experience with ecological consultancy is an advantage
  • Be willing to travel within Ireland and spend overnights away from home as required for course delivery
  • Be willing to work evenings/weekends as required for training delivery

Envirico are seeking a Project Ecologist

Envirico are an Irish ecological consultancy experienced in delivering challenging large-scale ecological projects to a wide range of clients in both the public and private sectors. Examples of our projects include nesting seabird surveys on offshore islands in the southwest of Ireland, invasive species eradication from an Irish peninsula, nationwide assessments for the forestry sector, developing and managing conservation measures for protected habitats and species on offshore islands in the southeast of Ireland, developing and writing policy documents, large site Japanese knotweed remediation works, in addition to AA Screening, NIS, and EIAR, EcIAR, and biodiversity training. Envirico is a fast-growing company with branches in both Kilkenny and Kerry and we are currently in an exciting second stage of expansion with a diverse project portfolio.

We are now seeking an experienced Project Ecologist to join our growing team. Flexible/Remote working arrangements may be possible by prior arrangement.

Your duties will include:

Managing ecological projects and meeting key deliverables;

Writing and reviewing ecological reports including site-specific management plans for the control/eradication of invasive species, Appropriate Assessment Reports, EIAR, EcIAR;

GIS mapping;

Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) duties to include supervising IAS remediation works, protection of habitats and species during construction projects;

Inputting into tender applications;

Liaising with a wide range of clients and stakeholders;

Training and supervising junior staff members;

Duties may also include attendance at trade shows, reaching out to new clients, attendance at conferences and other opportunities as may arise from time to time.

It is important to note that this position will involve out of hours working, travel nationwide and overnights away from home where necessary.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 or more years’ experience working as an ecological consultant;
  • A strong background and demonstrable experience in detailed understanding of Appropriate Assessment;
  • Ecological Clerk of Works experience;
  • Relevant degree (Level 9 or above is an advantage but not essential);
  • Be fully competent with GIS software packages such as ArcGIS or QGIS;
  • Have experience carrying ecological out fieldwork and producing high-quality reports;
  • Experience drafting Habitat and Botanical Surveys and Ecological Impact Assessment Reports;
  • Excellent fieldwork skills with specialist skills in at least one area such as botany or aquatic surveys;
  • Full driving licence is essential.
  • An energetic and enthusiastic nature, with a genuine desire to find the best solutions for the client and the environment.
